Pakistan to sell 12 Super Mushshak trainer aircraft to Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe has placed an order for 12 Super Mushshak trainer
aircraft from Pakistan Aeronautical Complex, Kamra, marking the culmination of
a multi-million dollar deal initiated during a security and defense exhibition
held in Islamabad two years ago. The agreement, sealed during the International
Defence and Exhibition Seminar (IDEAS) in Karachi on November 25, 2022,
involved a delegation led by Air Vice Marshall Biltim Chingono from Harare,
which inked over 30 contracts for modern aircraft and armaments.
The MFI-17 Super Mushshak, known as "The Agile," is a
lightweight, durable aircraft with fixed landing gear, designed for US FAR 23
certification in the Normal and Utility categories. Featuring a 260 HP piston
engine, advanced glass cockpit options, an environmental control system, and
dual control Elevator and Rudder trim systems, it can operate from short,
unprepared strips.

Zimbabwe joins other African nations like Nigeria in procuring the
Super Mushshak trainer aircraft from Islamabad. Pakistan Aeronautical Complex
emphasizes that this piston-engine trainer is the result of extensive
experience, ongoing enhancements, innovation, and is tailored to meet various
service conditions. Zimbabwe's decision to acquire new trainer and combat
aircraft aims to replace its aging fleet, as it navigates through
Western-imposed sanctions, turning to eastern Europe and Asian countries, including
Pakistan, for military equipment.
The Air Force of Zimbabwe, operating a modest fast jet force, has
experienced aircraft incidents in recent years, prompting efforts to enhance
capabilities. Seeking technical assistance, Zimbabwe has engaged with Nigeria,
which boasts expertise in aircraft research, development, and unmanned aerial
vehicle technology. Nigeria's proficiency in operating the Super Mushshak
trainer aircraft positions it as a valuable resource for Zimbabwe's aviation
aspirations.
