Deadline for bid submission for Islamabad Airport extended
again
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has extended the deadline for
the outsourcing of Islamabad Airport.
The new deadline for bid submission has been moved to July 15,
allowing an additional two months for companies to submit their bids. This
extension aims to attract more interest and generate funds through the
outsourcing of airport services.

Initially announced in March with a deadline of May 15, the tender
has seen interest from companies in Turkey, the UAE, Qatar, Malaysia, Saudi
Arabia, and other countries. However, the lack of substantial interest from
bidders prompted the extension.
The federal government initially issued tenders for outsourcing
Islamabad International Airport for 15 years, requiring interested bidders to
submit their applications along with a Rs5,000 fee by November 8.

The government's decision to outsource Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad International Airports has faced strong opposition from the Employee Unions of the CAA.
The union officials have consistently opposed the
outsourcing proposal since its inception in 2016, citing concerns about the
negative impact on the country's interests and the integrity of the
institution.
