UAE renames Abu Dhabi International Airport
In a recent development, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan,
the President of the UAE, has issued a directive to change the name of Abu
Dhabi International Airport.
The airport's new official name, Zayed International
Airport, is set to become effective on February 9, 2024, coinciding with the
official opening ceremony of the new Terminal A, as announced in an official
press release.

The new terminal boasts the capacity to accommodate the
landing of up to 70 aircraft simultaneously and is equipped to handle over 40
million passengers annually.
Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who served as the
President of the United Arab Emirates since its formation on December 2, 1971,
and as the Ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi since 1966, is the esteemed figure
for whom the airport has been renamed.
