Pakistan’s Army Chief visits airbase to observe multinational 'Indus Shield 2023' air exercise

On Thursday, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir paid a visit to an operational air base of the Pakistan Air Force to witness the ongoing aerial exercise known as "Indus Shield 2023." This visit emphasized the critical importance of multinational air exercises in the pursuit of common objectives.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), this event was attended by the air chiefs of Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Hungary, among other distinguished guests, who observed the PAF's extensive 14-nation mega air exercise.

During his visit, the COAS, along with esteemed foreign dignitaries, received a comprehensive briefing on the Air Power Centre of Excellence's training facility and the extensive scope of the exercise. This exercise aims to consolidate modern concepts of aerial warfare, foster mutual cooperation, and enhance interoperability among the participating air forces.

In his remarks, the Air Chief lauded the unwavering support provided by the army chief for the modernization efforts of the Pakistan Air Force. He also expressed appreciation for the wholehearted participation of the 14 allied countries, underscoring the importance of military-to-military cooperation in the realm of futuristic aerial warfare.

The air chief highlighted that the exercise presents a unique opportunity for participating air forces to showcase their exceptional skills and operational capabilities.

Moreover, he commended the pivotal role played by the PAF's Air Power Center of Excellence in orchestrating this mega exercise, ensuring meticulous supervision, conduct, analysis, and assessment of aerial warfare missions. The center's state-of-the-art infrastructure and resources played a crucial role in the successful execution of this significant air exercise.

The air chief emphasized that the successful execution of an aerial mission relies on the effective utilization of all components of combat efficiency, including electronic warfare operations, force multipliers, and support elements, all of which are diligently taught at the Air Power Center of Excellence, greatly enhancing operational capabilities.

General Munir stressed the paramount importance of multinational air exercises in achieving common objectives amidst the ever-evolving dynamics of air warfare. He praised the professionalism of the exercise participants and expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Air Power Center of Excellence for its state-of-the-art facilities and instrumental role in orchestrating this large-scale air exercise.

General Munir acknowledged the expertise and dedication of the center, which has contributed to the development of highly skilled and proficient air warriors prepared to meet the challenges of modern warfare. He also commended the dynamic leadership of Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu for making this exercise one of the largest aerial exercises in the region.

Recognizing the evolving nature of aerial warfare, General Munir reaffirmed his commitment to support Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu's vision to incorporate cutting-edge technologies in areas such as cyber, artificial intelligence, IT, space, and specialized innovations.
