Government in talks with
protesting Civil Aviation Authority employees
Following the protest by
Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) employees against the outsourcing of airports,
the government and CAA administration have demonstrated a willingness to
address their concerns. Federal Minister for Aviation, Khawaja Saad Rafique,
has extended an invitation to the heads of unions representing the CAA
employees for a meeting scheduled on July 30 in Lahore. The CAA unions were
formally notified about the meeting through written communication from the CAA
headquarters.
During the meeting, the CAA
union heads are expected to present their concerns and suggestions in writing
regarding the outsourcing of airports.
To ensure meaningful
engagement, the Aviation Minister has called upon the Director-General of CAA
and the Federal Secretary of Aviation to participate in the meeting in Lahore.
As the protest movement by
civil aviation employees opposing the outsourcing of domestic airports
continues, the government and CAA administration's decision to initiate
negotiations is aimed at addressing the employees' grievances. The employees
have expressed strong opposition to the outsourcing and have even threatened to
halt operations if their concerns are not adequately addressed.
