PIA’s ATR
plane makes emergency landing at Islamabad airport after fire warning
A Pakistan
International Airlines plane made an emergency landing at Islamabad
International Airport (IIA) on Thursday after a fire warning.
The ATR
passenger aircraft of the national carrier was flying from Sukkur to Islamabad.
According
to officials, the pilot shut
off engine number two after receiving a fire warning. The pilot gave a
mayday call when the aircraft was two nautical miles away from the air
port.
As a safety
measure, ambulances and fire brigades had been stationed on the runway.
However,
the aircraft with 54 passengers on board made a safe landing. Under
Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs), the pilot will now undergo a medical
test.
Recently,
a Quetta-bound Pakistan International Airline (PIA) plane encountered an
accident at the Islamabad International airport.
The incident occurred with an Airbus A320 owing to the alleged negligence of a tug master, resulting in damage caused to the wheel of the plane.
