A two-member delegation of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has departed for Europe to hold discussions with aircraft manufacturers and leasing companies as the national flag carrier explores options to expand and modernise its fleet, according to sources.

The delegation comprises PIA Board Member Fazal Sheikh and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Aamir Hayat.

Sources said the PIA team is scheduled to meet representatives of European aircraft manufacturers and leasing companies to discuss potential options for adding aircraft to the airline’s fleet.

As part of its fleet expansion strategy, PIA is considering both wet-lease and dry-lease arrangements to increase its aircraft capacity and support the expansion of its operations.

The airline has also accelerated recruitment for cabin crew as it prepares for anticipated growth in flight operations.

PIA Expands London Operations

The European visit comes as PIA prepares to expand its services to London, with the airline set to increase the number of weekly flights between Pakistan and the British capital to seven from October 27.

According to a PIA spokesperson, the airline will operate five weekly flights from Islamabad to London and two weekly services from Lahore.

PIA currently operates four flights a week to London. The planned increase will provide daily connectivity between Pakistan and the UK capital, offering passengers additional options for travel between the two countries.

The fleet expansion plans are expected to support PIA’s broader efforts to increase operational capacity and strengthen its international network.
