PIA reaffirms commitment to internationally recognized standards of aviation safety
Pakistan
International Airlines Corporation Limited (PIACL) has
successfully renewed its registration under the IATA Operational
Safety Audit (IOSA) Program) for the 12th consecutive cycle,
reaffirming the national carrier’s commitment to internationally
recognized standards of aviation safety, security, quality and
regulatory compliance.
The renewed registration is valid for two years,
through September 11, 2028, following the successful completion of
PIACL’s first Risk-Based IOSA (RBI) Audit, conducted from June
8 to 11, 2026.
IOSA, developed by the International Air
Transport Association (IATA), is an internationally recognized safety
assessment program that evaluates airlines’ operational
management and control systems against established
global aviation safety standards.
The RBI methodology places greater emphasis on
identifying and assessing operational risks while examining
the effectiveness of an airline’s operational controls and
safety management systems.

The comprehensive audit of PIACL covered key areas
including flight operations, cabin operations, ground handling, cargo
operations, security, Safety Management System (SMS), quality assurance,
and other relevant operational and organizational functions.
According to PIACL, the successful completion of the
audit and subsequent renewal of its IOSA registration
demonstrates the airline’s continued adherence to
international aviation safety, security, quality and
operational requirements.
The airline said the achievement also reflects ongoing
efforts to strengthen its Safety Management System, quality assurance
procedures, operational controls, risk management framework, security
arrangements and regulatory compliance mechanisms.
PIACL management credited the airline’s
operational departments and the Corporate Quality &
Safety Assurance (CQSA) team for their role in the
renewal process. The management highlighted their professionalism,
technical expertise, audit preparedness and focus on continuous
improvement.

The 12th consecutive IOSA registration marks another
milestone in PIACL’s efforts to maintain robust safety and
quality systems while aligning its operations with evolving
international aviation requirements.
PIACL said it remains focused on further strengthening
its safety culture, security standards, operational performance,
quality assurance and risk management practices, while maintaining
compliance with applicable international aviation standards
and regulatory requirements.
