experienced service providers to handle aircraft de-icing and anti-icing
operations at Manchester Airport, signaling preparations for safe and
uninterrupted flight operations during the upcoming winter seasons.
The national flag carrier has issued a tender for the
provision of comprehensive De/Anti-Icing Services for its scheduled operations
at Manchester Airport (MAN),
United Kingdom. The contract is proposed to run for three years, covering PIA's
winter operations at the airport.
Under the tender, the successful contractor will be
responsible for providing trained personnel, specialised de-icing equipment,
approved de/anti-icing fluids and all related support required to keep aircraft
operations safe and on schedule in winter weather.
The services will have to comply with applicable
aviation regulations and established international industry standards,
particularly during periods of snow, frost and freezing temperatures that can
affect aircraft turnaround times and flight schedules.

According to the tender details, PIA plans to operate
the following Manchester services using Boeing 777 aircraft:
- PK702: Manchester–Islamabad, four flights per
week.
- PK710: Manchester–Lahore, one flight per week.
The requirement for a dedicated de-icing contractor
highlights the importance of maintaining operational reliability on PIA's UK
network during the winter months. Aircraft must be properly cleared of ice and
other frozen contamination before departure, as even relatively small amounts
