Airblue to offer customers inflight entertainment services

Pakistani private airline Airblue is set to introduce Airflix, a new inflight entertainment (IFE) platform, on August 14, offering passengers a wider range of entertainment and digital services during their journeys.

The airline has announced that Airflix will officially launch on August 14, 2026, coinciding with Pakistan’s Independence Day. Airblue described the initiative as a new addition to the passenger experience, with entertainment, music, games and other onboard features available to travellers.

The new system is expected to provide passengers with access to a selection of movies, television content, music and games, while also incorporating features such as live flight tracking. Airblue has been promoting Airflix as part of a broader effort to make time spent onboard more engaging and convenient.

The launch represents a notable move for Airblue as airlines increasingly use digital inflight platforms to enhance the passenger experience without relying solely on traditional seatback entertainment systems. Modern IFE platforms can allow passengers to access content through personal devices, depending on the aircraft and onboard connectivity setup.

About Airblue

Airblue, one of Pakistan’s leading private airlines, began operations in 2004, initially serving major domestic routes with Airbus A320 aircraft. It subsequently expanded into international markets, launching its first international service between Karachi and Dubai in August 2005.

The airline currently operates a fleet comprising Airbus A320s, A321s and A321neo aircraft, serving domestic destinations as well as international markets. Its network has historically included major cities in Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

Airblue's current service portfolio already includes online booking, web and mobile check-in, seat selection, additional baggage and its BlueMiles frequent-flyer programme. The addition of Airflix expands this focus from ground-based digital services to the passenger experience during the flight itself.

With Airflix, Airblue is positioning inflight entertainment as another component of its customer-service offering, potentially giving passengers more ways to spend their time on board while travelling on the airline's domestic and international routes.

The launch on Independence Day also gives the airline a symbolic opportunity to unveil a new passenger-facing service as part of its ongoing efforts to modernise the travel experience.
