Pakistan taking steps to upgrade Skardu Airport
The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has invited
bids for the construction of a modern Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower at Skardu International Airport as part of
its ongoing efforts to upgrade aviation infrastructure and enhance operational
safety.
The
project forms a key component of the PAA's broader airport modernization
program aimed at improving air traffic management, operational efficiency, and
passenger safety at one of Pakistan's strategically important airports.

Airport to be promoted to attract international tourism
In
addition to the ATC tower, the authority has issued electronic tenders for
several other development projects at Skardu International Airport. Experienced
and financially qualified firms have been invited to participate in the
competitive bidding process in accordance with the prescribed public
procurement procedures.
The
planned expansion also includes the construction of a new airport fire station,
along with supporting infrastructure and related facilities designed to
strengthen emergency response capabilities and improve overall airport
operations.

to resume direct flights between Dubai and Skardu earlier in 2025, reflecting

international air traffic serving the region.
