PAA and PSW join hands to introduce digital cargo charge system at Karachi Airport
The
collection of Cargo Throughput Charges (CTC) on air-imported consignments at
Jinnah International Airport will be shifted to a digital system from August 27
under an agreement between the Pakistan Airports
Authority (PAA) and Pakistan Single Window
(PSW).
Under the
new mechanism, CTC payments will be integrated into the PSW platform, enabling
electronic payments and automated verification of supporting documents,
according to a statement issued Tuesday.
The PAA and
PSW formalized the initiative through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). PAA
Director Commercial Abdul Basit signed the agreement on behalf of the airport
authority, while PSW Chief Domain Officer Naveed Abbas Memon represented PSW.

The digital
system will also provide real-time visibility of CTC collections, helping
improve transparency and monitoring of the payment process.
The
authorities said the transition would reduce paperwork and eliminate the need
for importers and other users to visit banks or wait in queues to complete
cargo charge payments.
The
automated process is expected to improve efficiency, transparency and
convenience in the collection of CTC, while reducing reliance on the existing
manual and paper-based procedures.
The
initiative forms part of the government’s broader digitalisation drive and is
aimed at modernising Pakistan’s air cargo operations and facilitating trade.

system will initially replace the manual CTC collection process at Karachi’s
