Canadian Airline shows interest in launching flights to Pakistan

A Canadian airline has formally approached Pakistani authorities for permission to operate five direct weekly flights between Canada and Pakistan, a move that could significantly enhance air connectivity and ease travel for thousands of passengers.

According to reports, the airline has submitted its proposal to the relevant Pakistani authorities seeking approval to launch the direct service. If approved, the flights would provide a more convenient travel option, particularly for the large Pakistani diaspora residing in Canada.

Pakistan's High Commissioner to Canada, Muhammad Saleem, said the proposal reflects the strengthening relationship between Islamabad and Ottawa. He noted that the development follows the recent visit of Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand to Pakistan, which marked another step forward in bilateral engagement.

Saleem also revealed that high-level Pakistani delegations are expected to visit Canada next year to further deepen economic cooperation. The planned visits will focus on expanding trade, attracting investment and strengthening commercial ties between the two countries.

The introduction of direct flights would significantly reduce travel time by eliminating the need for connecting flights through third countries, making travel more efficient for business and leisure passengers alike.

In addition to improving passenger convenience, the proposed air service is expected to facilitate business travel by supporting trade missions, investors and entrepreneurs exploring opportunities in both markets. Enhanced air connectivity could also promote educational exchanges, academic collaboration and tourism, contributing to stronger long-term people-to-people ties.

Canada is home to a large Pakistani community, many of whom travel frequently for family visits, business and education. The proposed direct flights would address a long-standing demand for faster and more convenient travel while supporting broader economic, cultural and social engagement between the two nations.

The airline is currently awaiting regulatory approval to commence the proposed five weekly direct flights.
