PIA, Canadian High Commission discuss enhancing air connectivity between two countries

Canadian High Commissioner and PIA CEO explore further collaboration 

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and the Canadian High Commission have agreed to work closely to enhance investment in Pakistan, promote cultural exchanges, and improve air connectivity between the two countries.

Canada’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Tariq Ali Khan, held a meeting with PIA Chief Executive Officer Air Vice Marshal Amir Hayat at the PIA office in Islamabad. The discussions covered a range of issues, including bilateral relations, air connectivity, trade, cultural cooperation, and other areas of mutual interest.

According to a PIA spokesperson, the Canadian High Commissioner assured full cooperation in facilitating codeshare and air cargo agreements with Canadian airlines. These arrangements are expected to strengthen air links between Pakistan and Canada and significantly boost bilateral trade. PIA will also support improved access for Canadian products to Pakistani markets.

The High Commissioner invited PIA to take part in joint initiatives aimed at promoting trade and tourism, enabling the national carrier to gain greater exposure to the North American market.

PIA described the meeting as an important milestone in the long-standing and friendly relations between Pakistan and Canada. The airline’s management reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Canadian High Commission to introduce additional facilities and improve services in air travel and trade.

The Canadian High Commission also expressed support for future codeshare agreements between PIA and Canadian carriers, which are expected to play a key role in the airline’s revival, expansion, and strengthening of its global presence.
