South Air expands domestic network with flights to five major Pakistani cities

South Air has expanded its domestic operations by launching flights from Karachi to five key destinations across Pakistan, including Peshawar, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, Gwadar, and Quetta, as part of its strategy to strengthen regional connectivity.

According to the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA), the expansion follows the airline's official entry into scheduled domestic operations and is expected to improve air travel between major urban centres and underserved regions.

The PAA said the new routes will enhance passenger convenience, support tourism, facilitate trade, and contribute to stronger economic and regional integration by improving access to cities across the country.

South Air officially commenced scheduled services on Thursday with its inaugural flights from Karachi to Quetta via Turbat and from Karachi to Islamabad via Bahawalpur. The airline will initially operate one weekly flight on the Karachi–Quetta route through Turbat and three weekly flights on the Karachi–Islamabad route via Bahawalpur.

The authority described the new services as a significant addition to Pakistan's domestic aviation sector, noting that the airline's operations will provide travellers with more flight options while strengthening connectivity through Karachi's Jinnah International Airport.

Looking ahead, South Air has indicated plans to further expand its domestic network, with additional destinations expected to be added as the carrier continues to grow its presence in Pakistan's aviation market.
