JICA delegation holds meeting with officials of Pakistan Airports Authority at Multan Airport
A delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency
(JICA) visited Multan International Airport to assess plans for the
installation of a modern Baggage Handling System (BHS), a project aimed at
enhancing operational efficiency and improving passenger services.
During the visit, the delegation held a coordination
meeting with officials of the Pakistan Airports Authority
(PAA), including the airport management team, to discuss the project's
technical specifications, operational requirements, and overall feasibility.
The meeting focused on evaluating the airport’s existing
baggage management procedures and identifying the infrastructure required to
support the proposed automated system. Participants reviewed key technical
aspects and explored measures to ensure seamless integration of the new
technology with current airport operations.

Following the discussions, the JICA delegation conducted
a detailed inspection of the proposed project sites within the airport
premises. The team visited several operational areas, including the
international baggage section, to assess available infrastructure and determine
installation requirements for the planned system.
According to airport officials, the proposed Baggage
Handling System is expected to significantly increase baggage processing
capacity, reduce handling times, and enhance the overall travel experience for
passengers at Multan International Airport.
Representatives from the Pakistan Airports Authority,
the Airport Security Force (ASF), and other relevant airport departments
accompanied the delegation during the visit and provided technical briefings on
airport operations.
