Boeing 737-400 freighter delivered to Pakistan after multi-stop transcontinental Journey

The addition of AP-BPC is expected to strengthen domestic and regional cargo capacity

Pakistan receives Boeing 737-400 freighter plane for TCS

A Boeing 737-400 Special Freighter operating under U.S. registration N463VX completed a long-haul delivery flight to Pakistan on Sunday, arriving in Karachi at 5:21 PM after a three-day journey spanning North America, Europe, and North Africa.

The aircraft departed Tucson on April 25 and followed a multi-stop routing through Halifax, Shannon, and Cairo before reaching Karachi on April 27. Such staged ferry flights are common for narrow-body aircraft being repositioned across continents, allowing for refueling, crew changes, and compliance with operational range limitations.

The freighter is expected to be registered locally as AP-BPC following completion of regulatory formalities.

Background

The Boeing 737-400 Special Freighter (SF) is a converted cargo variant of the widely used Boeing 737, originally designed for passenger service. As older passenger aircraft are retired, many are converted into freighters to meet growing demand in regional and short-haul cargo markets.

Pakistan’s aviation sector has increasingly turned to such converted freighters to support expanding logistics and e-commerce activity. Aircraft like the 737-400SF are particularly valued for their ability to operate on shorter routes with lower operating costs compared to larger wide-body freighters.
