First direct Dhaka–Karachi
flight fully booked
Biman Bangladesh Airlines is set to
resume direct flights between Dhaka and Karachi on Thursday, ending a 14-year
hiatus, with the inaugural service departing fully booked — a sign of strong
passenger demand for the revived route.
Airline officials said all 162 seats
on the first flight have been sold, leaving no vacancies. Tickets for the
second flight are also almost sold out.
“The inaugural flight is fully
booked and the second flight is nearly full as well, which shows considerable
interest among travelers,” Biman’s General Manager (Public Relations), Boshra
Islam, told BSS, adding that the response from passengers has been highly
encouraging.
The inaugural flight will depart
Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 8:00am and arrive in Karachi at
11:00am local time. The return flight will leave Karachi at 12:00am and reach
Dhaka at 4:20am the following day.

Initially, Biman will operate two flights a week on the Dhaka–Karachi route, scheduled for Thursdays and Saturdays.
According to the airline, the
service is being launched on a trial basis from January 29 to March 30, 2026. A
decision on the continuation or expansion of the route will be taken after
reviewing its performance during this period.
Biman said the Pakistan Civil
Aviation Authority has granted all required approvals for the operation,
including permission to use Pakistani airspace through designated corridors.
Airline officials noted that
discussions with the relevant Pakistani authorities had been ongoing for
several months and that the completion of all formalities has enabled the
resumption of direct flights for the first time since 2012.
