Captain (Rtd) Haroon Abdullah and Captain (Rtd) Arif Majeed have been elected unopposed as President and General Secretary of the Pakistan Airlines’ Pilot Association (PALPA), respectively.

According to a statement issued by PALPA, all office bearers and members of the new executive committee—comprising both active and retired pilots—were elected unopposed.

The newly elected team includes Capt (Rtd) Riffat Saeed as Vice President; Capt (Rtd) Basharat Chaudhry, Capt (Rtd) Abdul Hamid Arif, and Capt (Rtd) Fahim Khan as Joint Secretaries; and Capt (Rtd) S. M. Qasim as Treasurer.

The Sindh High Court, in its ruling on H.C.A. No. 83 of 2022, affirmed that retired pilots are eligible to contest for PALPA’s principal offices, including the presidency. The court noted that the association’s constitution contains no clause preventing retired members from running for these posts, overturning an earlier decision that had barred them.
