Punjab government looking to establish second airport in Lahore

The Punjab government is advancing plans to develop a second airport near Lahore, with the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) identifying a potential location near Ravi City, close to the M-3 Motorway.

The proposed facility would be located approximately 30 kilometers from Allama Iqbal International Airport. Officials noted that while discussions regarding project cost and financing models are underway, the initiative remains in its initial planning phase.

The new airport is intended to reduce air traffic congestion at Lahore’s existing airport while stimulating job creation and investment opportunities in the region.

Authorities have not yet announced a timeline or final financing structure for the project.
