Ethiopian ambassador, CM Sindh explore aviation cooperation between Pakistan, Ethiopia
Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Special
Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of the Federal Democratic Republic of
Ethiopia (FDRE) to Pakistan, met with H.E. Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister
of Sindh, at his Karachi office on Tuesday to discuss strengthening bilateral
cooperation across multiple sectors.
The leaders explored opportunities in
trade, investment, aviation, tourism, culture, and climate action, with
particular focus on agriculture, agro-processing, education, and health. Both
sides emphasized their commitment to deepening Pakistan-Ethiopia relations and
advancing regional connectivity.
Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker praised
the Chief Minister’s initiative to host a high-level Ethiopian delegation for a
Green Dialogue at the Chief Minister House, calling it a crucial step toward
formalizing collaboration on climate resilience and sustainable development.

He also briefed the Chief Minister on preparations in Addis Ababa for Pakistan’s Single Country Exhibition in October, highlighting its potential to showcase Pakistan’s economic opportunities and boost commercial ties with Africa.
A key highlight of the discussion
was Ethiopian Airlines’ role as a strategic enabler of Pakistan’s Look Africa
and Engage Africa policies. Ambassador Dr. Beker lauded the airline’s growing
connectivity between Pakistan and Africa, while Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali
Shah described it as a “game-changer” for fostering people-to-people and
business-to-business linkages.
“The role of Ethiopian Airlines is
central to our vision of deeper engagement with Africa,” the Chief Minister
said. “It is a vital instrument for Pakistan’s strategic outreach and in
building lasting partnerships across the continent.”

The Chief Minister also commended Ambassador Dr. Beker’s diplomatic efforts in strengthening bilateral relations and reiterated Sindh’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Ethiopia in diverse sectors.
Mr. Ibrahim Khalid Tawab, Honorary
Consul of Ethiopia in Karachi, was present at the meeting, highlighting the
growing institutional ties between the two countries.
