Ethiopia and Pakistan discuss enhancing aviation cooperation

Ethiopia and Pakistan have agreed to enhance their bilateral ties by expanding cooperation in the aviation sector. This agreement was made during a meeting between Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, the Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to Pakistan, and Ahsan Ali Mangi, the Federal Secretary for Pakistan’s Ministry of Aviation.

The discussions focused on increasing air connectivity between the two nations and fostering the transfer of knowledge and technology. Ambassador Dr. Jemal thanked the Pakistani government for its support in facilitating the launch of Ethiopian Airlines’ operations in Karachi. He emphasized the importance of expanding Ethiopian Airlines’ services to other cities in Pakistan to boost mobility between Ethiopia and Pakistan, as well as between Africa and Pakistan.

Dr. Jemal also outlined the vital role Ethiopian Airlines plays in implementing Pakistan’s “Look Africa and Engage Africa” policies, which aim to strengthen government-to-government, people-to-people, and business-to-business relationships between Pakistan and African nations. He highlighted the airline’s success under the Ethiopian Embassy’s “Enter and Operate in Africa through Ethiopia” initiative.

The Ambassador further noted the growing popularity of Ethiopian Airlines among Pakistanis, who have been increasingly appreciating the services of one of the largest airlines in the world.

In response, Ahsan Ali Mangi acknowledged the significant role Ethiopian Airlines has played in bringing Africa closer to Pakistan. He assured the Ambassador of the Ministry of Aviation’s continued support in advancing bilateral cooperation in the aviation sector.
