Section 144 imposed near Punjab airports ahead of Eidul Azha
To enhance aviation safety and
security, the Punjab Home Department has enforced Section 144 within a
15-kilometre radius of all airports and Pakistan Air Force (PAF) airbases
across the province.
The restrictions will be in place
from June 5 to June 20, ahead of the Eidul Azha holiday.
Under the new order, activities such
as pigeon flying, fireworks, the use of drones or laser lights, and the open
disposal of animal remains have been strictly banned within the specified
zones.

According to the Home Department,
these measures are necessary to protect human life, ensure safe aircraft
operations, and maintain public safety. Open disposal of sacrificial waste, in
particular, is known to attract birds—posing a significant threat to aircraft.
The order was issued under Section
144(6) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898, and will be uniformly applied
around all civil airports and PAF installations in Punjab.
Deputy commissioners have been
directed to enforce the ban rigorously and ensure cleanliness in the
surrounding areas to reduce the risk of bird strikes and other safety hazards.

A spokesperson for the Home
Department described the move as a preventive action in anticipation of
increased celebratory activity during Eid, urging the public to cooperate for
the sake of flight and passenger safety.
