Deadline to receive PIA bids extended to June 19
The government has extended the deadline for
submitting expressions of interest (EoIs) for the sale of Pakistan
International Airlines (PIA) by two weeks, with the new cutoff set for June 19,
the Privatization Ministry announced on Tuesday.
The ministry did not specify a reason for the
extension from the original deadline of June 3, nor did it reveal whether any
EoIs had been received for the sale of a 51% to 100% stake in the national flag
carrier.

extends bidding deadline for PIA privatization by one month
Last
year, an attempt to privatize the struggling airline failed after only one bid
was submitted, and it was well below the asking price of over $300 million.
However, in April, PIA reported its first annual profit in over two decades, a
positive sign for potential investors.
