CAA trains staff as aviation security inspectors
Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority
(CAA) announced on Tuesday that all officers within its Directorate of Aviation
Security have been internationally certified as Aviation Security Inspectors
following a UK-led training initiative.
The certification program, sponsored
by the UK Department for Transport (DfT) and conducted by instructors
accredited by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), is a major
milestone in enhancing Pakistan’s aviation security oversight and regulatory capabilities.
“This training will play a pivotal
role in enhancing the capabilities of our national aviation security inspectors
and help increase compliance with international standards,” the CAA said in an
official statement.

The ICAO-compliant training, delivered on-site in Pakistan by UK-certified instructors, formally certifies all directorate officers to perform aviation security inspections in line with global safety protocols. The move is expected to strengthen Pakistan’s compliance under ICAO’s Universal Security Audit Program (USAP), which evaluates member states' effectiveness in enforcing aviation security systems.
Pakistan has previously earned one
of the highest Effective Implementation Ratings in South Asia under ICAO’s
global assessment framework, highlighting its progress in aligning with
international aviation safety and security practices.
In a further step to build
institutional expertise, the CAA also revealed that it is expanding its
training footprint through international academic placements. Two Pakistani
officers have been selected for fully sponsored postgraduate programs in
aviation safety and security in France and South Korea, secured through
bilateral cooperation with the respective civil aviation authorities.
