Pakistan Air Chief and Chinese ambassador discuss defense cooperation
Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer
Ahmed Baber Sidhu, has praised China for its vital support in Pakistan's
defence modernization and technological progress.
The remarks came during a meeting with Chinese
Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong, who called on the Air Chief in Islamabad
on Tuesday.
Air Chief Marshal Sidhu expressed deep gratitude
to China for its continued assistance and steadfast friendship, describing the
two countries as “Iron Brothers.” He noted that the bilateral relationship has
grown stronger over the decades and is poised to deepen further through
enhanced cooperation.

The meeting featured a wide-ranging discussion
on defence collaboration, strategic developments, and corporate-level
engagements. Both sides highlighted the importance of unified and collaborative
responses to emerging regional challenges, with an emphasis on maintaining peak
operational readiness and effective coordination.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to
regular high-level exchanges, including expanded joint military exercises and
the development of multilateral frameworks to address evolving security
threats.
Ambassador Jiang lauded the operational
excellence of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), particularly its performance during
a recent standoff on the eastern front. He praised PAF’s strategic foresight
and its success in deploying indigenous technologies under the current
leadership.
Reiterating China’s long-standing support, the
ambassador pledged continued technical assistance to enhance Pakistan’s aerial
defence capabilities. He also commended Pakistan’s focus on self-reliance,
noting that the PAF’s investment in indigenous solutions was delivering
tangible results.
