SUPARCO asks stakeholders to submit proposals regarding Pakistan's first space mission

Pakistan's national space agency, SUPARCO, is now accepting proposals from scientists, researchers, and students for experiments to be conducted during the country's upcoming human spaceflight mission to China’s space station.

With the first Pakistani astronaut set to travel to the Chinese Space Station (CSS) by late 2026, SUPARCO is providing a unique opportunity for the public to contribute to this historic mission.

The agency is inviting research proposals for experiments that can be conducted in the CSS’s distinctive environment, which includes extreme temperatures, a vacuum, and microgravity.

SUPARCO is calling for proposals from a variety of fields, including agriculture, medicine, biotechnology, material science, astrophysics, and fluid dynamics. The proposals should be lightweight, cost-effective, and feasible within a one-week timeframe.

In addition, proposals must align with the CSS's research objectives and support the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. The CSS orbits Earth at an altitude of about 380 km, completing one orbit every 92 minutes at a speed of 7.7 km/sec.

Successful proposals will be executed using the CSS’s state-of-the-art research facilities, with the potential to lead to patents, high-impact publications, and new commercial products. The deadline for submissions is April 30, 2025.
