AirAsia X formally starts flights operation between Kuala Lumpur and Karachi
Malaysia’s low-cost airline, AirAsia
X, has officially announced the start of its flight operations to Pakistan,
with the inaugural flight scheduled for May 30, 2025. The announcement was made
by AirAsia X CEO, Benyamin Ismail, during a ceremony at a local hotel in
Karachi.
AirAsia X will initially operate
four weekly flights between Kuala Lumpur and Karachi. The new service will
offer convenience for travelers, with flights scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays,
Fridays, and Sundays. Bookings for the flights, starting on May 30, are already
open. The introductory ticket price for the Karachi-Kuala Lumpur route is set
at Rs55,800.

Ismail highlighted that the new route is expected to serve over 100,000 passengers annually, increasing travel options and connecting Karachi with Kuala Lumpur more conveniently.
Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city
with a population of 20 million, is known for its rich history and cosmopolitan
atmosphere. Key tourist attractions in the city include the mausoleum of Muhammad
Ali Jinnah, Pakistan's founder, and the historic Empress Market, which dates
back to the 1800s.

AirAsia X, a subsidiary of the AirAsia Group, began as FlyAsian Express in 2006 and transitioned to a long-haul, low-cost carrier in 2007. The airline’s first international flight connected Kuala Lumpur to Gold Coast, Australia, marking the beginning of its expansion into global long-haul travel.
With this new route, AirAsia X aims
to enhance connectivity and provide affordable travel options between Malaysia
and Pakistan.
