PAA gives clarification after parking mix up at Karachi Airport
The Pakistan Airport Authority (PAA) issued a statement clarifying the temporary parking of an international flight at Karachi Airport, following reports of a parking mix-up.
According to a PAA spokesperson, Emirates flight
EK606 arrived 23 minutes ahead of schedule. At the time, Bay 24 was occupied,
so the flight was temporarily parked at Bay 16 after consultation with the
captain. Once Bay 24 became available, the aircraft was promptly moved there.
The spokesperson also noted that PK213 was
pushed back at 1:14 AM, and by 1:21 AM, EK606 was towed to Bay 24 for its final
parking. The airport staff followed standard operating procedures, and there
was no mistake in the parking process.

Furthermore, the PAA emphasized that the
captain of EK606 was aware of the situation with Bay 24 and did not file any
complaints about the temporary arrangement.
The PAA has rejected media reports suggesting
an error in the flight’s parking, stating that the information circulating is
incorrect.
Earlier reports indicated that a
Dubai-to-Karachi flight had been mistakenly parked at the domestic terminal
instead of the international terminal at Karachi airport. Upon realization, the
flight was moved to the correct location.

Work is underway to upgrade the runway at
Karachi International Airport to accommodate larger aircraft. The new 7-L
runway is being constructed after dismantling the old one.
The project is expected
to be completed by the end of the year, which will allow the airport to handle
