Pakistan, Russia hold discussions to increase cooperation in military aviation  

A high-level Russian delegation, led by Deputy Defence Minister Colonel General Aleksandr V. Fomin, met with Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff of Pakistan, at Air Headquarters in Islamabad on Tuesday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported.

The discussions focused on strengthening military cooperation and expanding industrial partnerships between Pakistan and Russia. Key areas included joint military exercises, collaborative training, and technical support for Pakistan Air Force (PAF) equipment. Air Chief Sidhu emphasized Pakistan's commitment to deepening military ties with Russia, highlighting opportunities in joint training and defense industry collaboration.

Colonel General Fomin praised recent advancements in PAF capabilities and reaffirmed Russia’s support for strengthening the existing defense partnership, according to ISPR. The meeting signifies both nations' dedication to enhancing their military alliance, with future plans likely to include expanded joint exercises and equipment upgrades.

In a separate meeting in Islamabad, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif underscored the potential for cooperation between Russia and Pakistan in various sectors during discussions with Valentina Matviyenko, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly. Sharif conveyed his best wishes to President Vladimir Putin and extended an invitation for him to visit Pakistan.
