Pakistan and Russia to reinitiate direct flight services
Pakistan and Russia are set to reinitiate direct flight
services, a move anticipated to strengthen bilateral ties and foster increased
trade interactions. Muhammad Khalid Jamal, the recently appointed Pakistani
Ambassador to Russia, highlighted this collaborative effort in a recent
statement to TASS.
Ambassador Jamal underscored the significance of these
direct flights in promoting closer people-to-people connections and enhancing
economic engagements. He expressed optimism that the resumption of direct air
services would play a crucial role in bringing the populations of both nations
closer and boosting trade relations.

Acknowledging the economic considerations involved,
Ambassador Jamal noted that the profitability of these routes must be carefully
assessed by airlines. He recalled that direct flights had previously existed,
leading to a surge in Russian tourists visiting Pakistan. However, financial
challenges faced by airlines had disrupted these services.
Despite past setbacks, the ambassador remains hopeful about
the potential increase in tourism once direct flights are reinstated, citing
the improved security situation in Pakistan as a significant factor attracting
more Russian tourists.

the need for ongoing hard work to attract international tourists, emphasizing
Pakistan's diverse and rich cultural and natural heritage.
In addition to the developments in the aviation sector,
reports indicate that Pakistan has applied to join the BRICS group, with
expectations of Russian support for its membership by 2024. Recent discussions
between Russia and Pakistan in Islamabad centered on collaborative efforts to
combat international terrorism and address other security challenges.
