Court in Pakistan fines UAE airline for unsatisfactory service
A consumer court in Sialkot has fined a UAE-based international airline
Rs100,000 for providing poor service to a client.
Fatima Saba, a passenger from Sialkot, filed a petition with the district
consumer court, alleging that she had booked a ticket from Faisalabad to
Istanbul (Turkey) for a flight scheduled to depart on April 17, 2024. Upon
arriving at the airport, she discovered the flight had been canceled without
prior notice or rescheduling, and her ticket was not refunded.

Saba presented all necessary documentary evidence to support her claim.
After reviewing the case, consumer court presiding officer Gulzar Ahmed Khalid
ruled in her favor, imposing a fine of Rs100,000 on the airline.
Additionally, the court ordered the airline to refund the Rs167,305 paid for
the ticket. The airline was also directed to pay Rs50,000 in legal fees and
Rs15,000 for miscellaneous expenses to the consumer.
