Pakistan hopeful of lifting of ban on flight operations to Europe
European Union Aviation Safety Agency's (EASA)is poised to lift
the ban on Pakistani aircraft flight operations, including those of Pakistan
International Airlines (PIA), on European routes.
A pivotal meeting of the EASA’s safety board is slated for May
2024, where PIA's future is expected to be a central topic.

visit of EC and EASA raises hopes for lifting of ban on PIA flights to Europe
Documents concerning the matter have been submitted by PIA to
EASA, with the final report set for presentation during the May meeting. The
agenda will feature an audit report of PIA and the Civil Aviation Authority
(CAA).
While definitive statements are premature, a Civil Aviation
Authority spokesperson expressed optimism, noting encouraging progress in
ongoing discussions.

EASA suspended PIA's European flight operations in June 2020 due
to safety concerns, following PIA's failure to comply with proposed corrective
action plans outlined in a letter citing six findings, five of which were
addressed, while one concerning element regarding a Safety Management System
remained unresolved.
