PIA seeks inflight catering services at Birmingham Airport
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA)
has invited bids from experienced in-flight catering service providers for its
operations at Birmingham Airport in the United Kingdom, seeking to ensure a
reliable supply of meals for passengers travelling on its UK routes.
According to a Request for Quotation (RFQ) issued by the national flag
carrier, the airline requires approximately 1,400 meals per week, with a
permitted variation of plus or minus 15 per cent, for its operations at Birmingham Airport (BHX).
The tender invites catering companies with substantial experience in airline
meal services to submit their quotations and supporting documents under a single-stage,
two-envelope bidding procedure. Under this process, technical and financial
proposals are submitted separately in accordance with the prescribed tender
requirements.
The opening of bids is scheduled for October 26, 2026, at 12:00 noon UK
local time. Interested companies have been directed to submit their proposals
in line with the requirements outlined in the tender documents.

Catering Services Key to International Operations
In-flight catering is an essential component of airline operations,
involving meal preparation, packaging, storage and timely delivery to aircraft
before departure. Airlines rely on local catering partners at overseas airports
to maintain service standards, accommodate passenger requirements and ensure
meals are loaded according to flight schedules.
For PIA, securing catering services at Birmingham is particularly relevant
to its UK operations, where dependable ground support is necessary to maintain
passenger services and operational efficiency.
Birmingham is an important aviation gateway for travellers from the UK's
Midlands region, which has a sizeable Pakistani-origin community. Airline
services connecting the region with Pakistan serve passengers travelling for
family visits, business, education and other purposes.
The selection of a catering contractor will be important in ensuring
continuity of meal supplies, compliance with food safety requirements and
consistency in onboard service.
