Privatization Minister confirms completion of all legal formalities for PIA privatization
Caretaker Privatization Minister Fawad Hasan Fawad has confirmed the completion of all legal formalities for the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
In an interview with a private news channel, Minister Fawad
elaborated on the different stages of the PIA privatization process,
highlighting the diligent efforts of the Privatization Commission in executing
the task. He emphasized the inclusion of representatives from the Civil
Aviation Authority, as well as the ministries of education, law, and finance,
to ensure transparency throughout the privatization of PIA.

The Minister noted that the caretaker government was following
constitutional amendments enacted by the previous elected government for this
purpose.
Addressing rumors about negotiations for the purchase of PIA by a
foreign government, Minister Fawad dismissed such claims as baseless and
motivated by certain elements with vested interests. In response to a question,
he assured that the caretaker federal cabinet would ensure that no PIA employee
was unfairly deprived of their legitimate rights.

He underscored the pressing need for reforms to prevent further
deterioration of public institutions, including PIA.
Responding to another query, Minister Fawad affirmed that general
elections would proceed as scheduled on February 8. He expressed full support
from the caretaker government to the Election Commission of Pakistan in
conducting the polls.
