Pakistan unveils National Aviation Policy 2023
Pakistan has revealed its National Aviation Policy 2023,
introducing a revised limit for aircraft imports.
The new policy, unveiled by aviation authorities, sets a fresh
restriction on the import of aircraft. Additionally, the fees for flying school
and licenses have been increased, and the Director-General of the Civil
Aviation Authority (DG CAA) has been granted the authority to cancel licenses.

In November, the federal government implemented a division of the
Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) into two distinct entities. The notification
specified the creation of the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) and Civil
Aviation, each with its own leadership.
The newly formed Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) is tasked with
overseeing the country's airports, including matters related to the airport
system, flight landing approvals, flight safety, and other relevant
departments, all of which will be under the purview of CAA.

In August, the Federal Minister for Aviation, Khawaja Saad Rafique,
had announced the approval of the National Aviation Policy 2023 by the federal
government. The policy aimed to revitalize the national carrier and encourage
public-private joint ventures. The minister expressed optimism that the new
policy would cover all necessary aspects, stimulate private investment in the
sector, promote the domestic aviation industry, attract investment for new
airport management and development, enhance passenger facilities, improve
consumer protection, and boost the overall aviation sector.
Emphasizing the importance of privatization or public-private
investment, the minister highlighted that this approach is crucial for
improving the aviation sector's standards in Pakistan, particularly when
working with limited resources. He stressed that attracting international
brands is essential for increasing business activities at the country's
airports and boosting revenue generation.
