Saudi Arabia implements new airline compensation rules to
facilitate passengers
Saudi Arabia has implemented new airline compensation rules aimed
at safeguarding passengers' rights in the event of disruptions or incidents
during their travels. These regulations, effective since November 20, address
issues such as flight delays, cancellations, lost or damaged baggage, and other
unexpected situations.
Here is a breakdown of the compensation amounts to which travelers
are entitled under the new rules:

Option to request cancellation if the delay exceeds two hours.
Flight Cancellations:
Compensation: 150% of the ticket value.
Unscheduled Stop:
Compensation: 500 Saudi riyals.
Lost Baggage:
Compensation: 6,568 Saudi riyals (Dh6,431).
Damaged Baggage:
Compensation: 6,568 Saudi riyals (Dh6,431).
Delayed Baggage on the First Day:

These rules are designed to enhance the overall passenger
experience by addressing issues such as overbooking, unexpected stopovers, improper
baggage handling, delays, and cancellations. The regulations cover various
travel circumstances, including charter flights for Haj and Umrah, as outlined
by the country's civil aviation authority when announcing the rules in August.
