Senator calls for direct
flights between Pakistan’s Gwadar and Beijing
Senator Sana Jamali has termed
the construction of Gwadar airport as a shining symbol of cooperation between
Pakistan and China under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a
flagship project of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). During her visit to
China, she commended the rapid progress of the Gwadar development project and
expressed her desire to initiate direct flights from Beijing to Gwadar in the
near future.
Senator Jamali also
highlighted the significant development taking place in Balochistan, the
largest province of Pakistan, as a result of CPEC, which was launched by
Chinese President Xi Jinping. She praised the strong bilateral relations
between Pakistan and China and expressed confidence in the mutual benefits both
countries will continue to reap from the Belt and Road Initiative.
Expressing gratitude for
China's support on the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative,
Senator Jamali appreciated the commendable progress in the Gwadar project. She
emphasized the importance of Chinese language learning programs, with Chinese
learning centers being introduced in Pakistani universities to foster bilateral
cooperation and understanding.
Senator Jamali informed
that more special economic zones would be established in Balochistan, and she
highlighted the potential for cooperation in the agricultural sector in the
province. She viewed China's modernization as an exemplary model of peaceful
development, from which Pakistan and other developing countries could draw
valuable lessons.
