Qatar Airways plane narrowly escapes accident at Islamabad, fuselage damaged
An Airbus A350 of Qatar
Airways narrowly escaped accident at Islamabad International Airport, resulting
in damage on its fuselage.
The Airbus A350-900, registered as A7-ALN, was
operating flight QR614 between Doha Hamad International Airport (DOH) and ISB
on April 16, 2023, when the incident occurred while landing. After performing a
go-around, the aircraft landed at ISB safely.
A spokesperson of Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority
(CAA) said that the flight reached Islamabad International Airport from Doha at
8pm on Sunday.
The pilot could not land the flight in first attempt and
decided to go around before making another attempt.
During the process, the tail of the aircraft hit the
runway but the pilot took off, the spokesperson added.
He said that the CAA had initiated an inquiry after a medical examination of the pilot.
