Qatar Airways plane narrowly escapes accident at Islamabad, fuselage damaged

An Airbus A350 of Qatar Airways narrowly escaped accident at Islamabad International Airport, resulting in damage on its fuselage.

The Airbus A350-900, registered as A7-ALN, was operating flight QR614 between Doha Hamad International Airport (DOH) and ISB on April 16, 2023, when the incident occurred while landing. After performing a go-around, the aircraft landed at ISB safely.

A spokesperson of Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said that the flight reached Islamabad International Airport from Doha at 8pm on Sunday.

The pilot could not land the flight in first attempt and decided to go around before making another attempt.

During the process, the tail of the aircraft hit the runway but the pilot took off, the spokesperson added.

He said that the CAA had initiated an inquiry after a medical examination of the pilot.
