The Punjab government’s ambitious plan to launch its own airline, Air Punjab, is moving forward, with key financial and operational steps now underway.  

The initiative marks a significant milestone in the province’s aviation development, as it works toward establishing its first-ever regional air carrier.

According to officials, the working committee overseeing the project has requested Rs1 billion from the provincial finance department to complete critical groundwork ahead of the airline’s launch.

Earlier this year, the government granted formal approval for the project. Sources within the administration revealed that Air Punjab plans to lease five aircraft in its initial phase to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.

The airline is expected to enhance regional connectivity and support economic growth by offering improved air travel options across the province and beyond.
