The facility is designed to enhance regional connectivity and economic integration. It includes a spacious apron with five slots for wide-body aircraft and provisions for significant cargo operations, featuring a dedicated cargo shed and planned expansions to support growing trade and logistics needs.

The airport aims to address previous connectivity challenges, enabling modern airlines to serve Gwadar, boosting regional economic development, and positioning the city as a key transshipment hub. Its strategic significance is tied to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
