Biometric verification implemented at Pakistani airports
The Pakistani government has announced that biometric verification will now
be mandatory at airports nationwide as part of efforts to enhance border
security.
A notification from the Interior Ministry has directed the Federal
Investigation Agency (FIA) to ensure the installation of biometric machines at
all airports. This verification process will apply to all international
travelers, who will undergo biometric checks at immigration counters before

The Interior Ministry stated that this initiative aims to prevent wanted
suspects and absconders from traveling in and out of the country. Officials
highlighted that the biometric system will facilitate more effective passenger
screening and is part of a larger effort to align the country’s security
measures with international standards.
The FIA has been instructed to implement these changes promptly.
In related developments, foreign experts from France recently visited major
airports in Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore to assess the installation of
E-gates. These E-gates are designed to streamline the boarding process,
allowing travelers to avoid long queues by scanning their passports and tickets
for quick access.
