Pakistani Prime Minister directs to improve services at nation's airports 

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed relevant authorities to enhance services at airports nationwide for overseas Pakistanis, tourists, and other passengers.

During a review meeting in Islamabad, which focused on reforms in the aviation sector, the Prime Minister called for additional counters to be set up to reduce wait times for international flight passengers. He also directed that the safety audit for the aviation sector be completed promptly.

To boost tourism, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to provide top-notch facilities at Skardu International Airport. He further ordered the development of a comprehensive plan for extending both Skardu International and Gilgit airports.

Shehbaz Sharif stressed the importance of implementing reforms and policy measures outlined in the aviation act. He highlighted plans for new amenities at airports, including the installation of automatic immigration gates as part of an automated Border Control System.

Expressing gratitude to Allah for the positive direction of the country’s aviation sector, the Prime Minister was informed that the separation of airport management and civil aviation authorities is being implemented to improve efficiency. He was also updated on the third-party validation of new projects and initiatives.

It was reported that additional counters and an expanded waiting area have been introduced at Lahore Airport to enhance passenger convenience. Meanwhile, work on the feasibility report for expanding Skardu Airport is set to commence soon.

The Prime Minister directed that these measures be completed within a specified timeframe, with a strong emphasis on transparency.
