Pakistan to launch another satellite on May 30

Pakistan is poised to reach another milestone in space exploration with the upcoming launch of a new satellite, MM1, scheduled for May 30. This announcement comes on the heels of the successful deployment of the iCube Qamar satellite, signaling Pakistan's commitment to advancing its internet and communication capabilities.

According to a spokesperson from the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco), the MM1 satellite is slated for launch from Islamabad. Designed with the primary objective of enhancing Pakistan's communication infrastructure, MM1 is expected to play a crucial role in establishing a sophisticated communication network, catering to the burgeoning demands of the telecom sector.

Given the rapid proliferation of internet usage and the impending rollout of 5G technology, MM1 holds significant promise in ensuring widespread availability and reliability of these services nationwide.

Its advanced capabilities are anticipated to meet the escalating need for high-speed internet and seamless connectivity.

Earlier this month, Pakistan embarked on its inaugural mission to the moon, marking its entry into the global space race for research. Developed with Chinese assistance and launched from China's Hainan Space Site, the 7kg satellite, crafted by the Electrical Engineering Department of the Institute of Space Technology (IST) in Islamabad over a span of two years, symbolizes Pakistan's burgeoning prowess in space exploration.

Suparco's maiden satellite mission to the lunar orbit, linked to China's Chang'e 6 mission, positioned Pakistan as the sixth country globally to achieve lunar exploration. In a historic moment, iCube Qamar recently transmitted its first images from the moon's orbit, providing unprecedented insights into the lunar surface.

This achievement underscores Pakistan's growing stature in space exploration and its commitment to pushing the boundaries of scientific discovery.
