Pakistan launches PakSat MM1 from China

The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission successfully launched its second satellite, PakSat MM1, from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in China today.

Designed to address the growing communication and connectivity needs of Pakistan, PakSat MM1 is equipped with advanced communication technologies. This satellite is expected to play a pivotal role in the socio-economic development of the country, marking a significant step towards the transformation into a Digital Pakistan. The satellite is scheduled to begin its services by August this year.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the nation on the successful launch of PakSat MM1, expressing optimism about its impact on internet connectivity across the country. "I am particularly excited about the potential impact of PakSat MM1 on internet connectivity across Pakistan. With its state-of-the-art communication technology, this satellite promises to revolutionize our digital landscape and provide the fastest internet facility throughout the country," he said in a statement.

He emphasized that this achievement signifies a major advancement in Pakistan’s space and communication capabilities and is a source of national pride. The prime minister noted that PakSat MM1 would not only enhance the lives of Pakistani citizens but also boost economic activities, e-commerce, and e-governance.
