PIA’s Boeing 777 returns from Muscat after 13 days
A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Boeing 777 aircraft, which
had made an emergency landing at Muscat International Airport due to engine
failure 13 days ago, successfully returned home on Monday following the
replacement of its engine.
The faulty engine was substituted with one retrieved from another
Boeing 777 aircraft grounded at Jinnah International Airport. This replacement
engine was transported to Muscat aboard a C-130 cargo plane on March 10.

gets approval for maintenance of Boeing 777
Flight PK-714 originating from Madina and bound for Islamabad,
carrying 392 passengers, was compelled to make an emergency landing at Muscat
airport when one of its engines experienced a sudden stall and failure at
35,000 feet.
Despite departing an hour and 50 minutes behind schedule from
Madina, the aircraft encountered engine trouble after reaching an altitude of
35,000 feet. The left engine (engine number 1) malfunctioned while flying over
Muscat, prompting the pilot to divert to the nearest available airport.
Having secured permission for landing, the plane touched down
safely in Muscat at 10:21 pm, relying solely on its remaining operational
engine. Passengers were disembarked and accommodated in the airport lounge.
PIA
to induct two grounded Boeing 777s in its fleet
Following the aircraft's arrival, a team of engineers was
dispatched from Pakistan to assess and repair the engine. However, upon
inspection, it was determined that the damage to the engine, likely caused by
an external object, was irreparable. Consequently, the decision was made to
ground the plane.
Subsequently, a relief flight was arranged to retrieve the
stranded passengers from Muscat airport. Upon completion of the engine
replacement, the PIA aircraft resumed its journey, departing for Karachi.
