The conclusive investigation report concerning the May 2020 plane crash places responsibility on "human error" for the tragic incident, with administrative accountability extended to both PIA and the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority.

Authored by Tariq Abul Hasan, the report highlights deficiencies in communication between pilots and traffic controllers, noting that the aircraft attempted landing without deploying its landing gears, resulting in significant consequences.

Released years after the catastrophe, the report identifies human error as the primary cause behind the Pakistan International Airline's (PIA) Airbus A320 crash on May 22, 2020. The incident, which claimed the lives of at least 99 individuals, ranks as the third most devastating aviation disaster in the nation's history.

Among those lost were passengers, crew members, and two residents in the vicinity of the crash site. Only two passengers survived, one being the former chief executive of the Bank of Punjab, and the other a young engineer.

Analysis of the events leading up to the crash reveals a series of warnings from air traffic control regarding the aircraft's altitude, yet landing was authorized despite concerns. The report underscores a breakdown in communication and coordination between pilots and controllers.

During the initial landing approach, the report notes a lapse in focus by the pilots, leading to the failure to deploy landing gears. This critical error resulted in the aircraft's engines striking the runway, igniting flames. Subsequent engine failure was attributed to damage sustained during this landing attempt.

Data from the aircraft's final moments could not be recorded due to the loss of electricity following engine failure. Administrative responsibility for the accident is attributed to both PIA and the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority.

Additionally, the report highlights deficiencies in adherence to aviation regulations, particularly regarding fasting pilots, and emphasizes the importance of post-flight data analysis to identify and rectify procedural errors.

The ill-fated PIA flight PK 8303 departed from Lahore bound for Karachi on May 22, 2020, with 99 individuals on board. The crash resulted in the loss of 97 lives, with two miraculous survivors.
