UK aviation team completes audit of CAA, PIA
A team of British aviation experts has completed the audit of Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
According to a statement of the British High Commission in Islamabad, the 12-day visit was aimed at sharing best practice on air safety performance and building relationships with the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA).
The visit was funded by the UK Department for Transport for long-term collaboration on safety performance.
Currently, all air carriers certified by the PCAA remain on the UK’s Air Safety List due to safety concerns. The UK aviation team’s support will not directly lead to the removal of Pakistan from the list, but the program had been designed to help Pakistan’s authorities achieve this goal.
Pakistan is required to demonstrate compliance with international safety standards in order to remove ban on it.
Meanwhile, another team of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) is expected to visit Pakistan in March or April.
