Ethiopian Airlines set to begin flights to Karachi in March

Ethiopian Airlines will start direct flights to Karachi in March 2023. This was confirmed to Pakistani media by Ethiopian ambassador to Pakistan Jemal Beker Abdula.

The ambassador said the pan-African airline already flies to 130 destinations and will be an instrument to connect Pakistan with Africa.

Jemal Beker Abdula had indicated in November 2022 about the start of flights between Addis Ababa and Karachi.

The ambassador said the trade prospect between Ethiopia and Pakistan are high and businessmen from both countries want to enhance connectivity.     

He said he has set a target to increase the trade volume between Pakistan and Ethiopia from roughly $80 million to $200 million.

The ambassador is also facilitating a Pakistani business delegation flying to Ethiopia on March 5-10 to explore business, trade and investment opportunities.
