Pakistan and Bangladesh discuss boosting aviation ties

Pakistan has shown interest in boosting aviation cooperation with Bangladesh, including the potential launch of direct flights between Dhaka and Lahore, along with broader collaboration in the sector.

The proposal was shared by Pakistan’s Ambassador to Bangladesh, Imran Haider, during a courtesy meeting with Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam (Rita) on 24 March at the ministry. State Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat also attended the meeting, according to an official statement.

Both sides highlighted the importance of strengthening, diversifying, and expanding existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Pakistan. The ambassador expressed Pakistan’s willingness to work jointly with Bangladesh in the aviation sector.

Discussions also covered increased cooperation in tourism, with both countries showing interest in signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support future collaboration.

The minister and state minister reiterated Bangladesh’s commitment to closer engagement with Pakistan in civil aviation and tourism.
